So, you're probably wondering why the hell we're telling you to pair a tiny, sub-$50 amplifier with speakers that cost nearly 10 times that much.
We're not crazy, it's just that times have changed. Until recently, most amps used traditional Class "A" or Class "B" architectures, which tend to result in big, heavy and complicated amps. (And all that metal and electronics isn't cheap, either.) These older architectures also gobble up a lot of power and, accordingly, throw off a ton of heat. These are not ideal features in an amp.
A much newer technology - the Class "D" architecture - has now been refined to the point where it can do everything a Class "A" or "B" amp can do (or more!), but with fewer and cheaper parts, a relatively tiny footprint, and crazy low power consumption. Take this amp: it only generates about 15 watts per channel. And yet, you probably won't be able to crank it up even halfway before your ears start to bleed (especially with a
pair of ultra-efficient speakers like our TT-1's). In addition to the AC adapter (included), this amp also runs on 8 AA batteries. Heck, you could even power it off a small solar panel! All that efficiency and simplification has huge sonic benefits. It keeps distortion to a bare minimum, providing improved clarity and an expansive, three-dimensional soundstage. You can hook up pretty much any audio source to this amp: an mp3 player, a CD/DVD player, a computer, or even a record player (though you'll need a separate preamp for that). Everything you need is included and we offer detailed instructions on how to set things up. (We promise, it's not complicated at all - you'll be rocking out in no time.)
Generally, speakers are the weakest link in any home audio setup. It simply costs a lot to get them right. Now, with this Class "D" amp, you can devote almost all of your budget to your speakers and end up with one hell of a great system. Head over to the TT-2 product page, and add one to your order today!
