Our speakers are designed to withstand a lot of abuse. The cabinets are sturdy, with half-inch thick walls. The drivers are well-protected, too. Even so, here at Tint Audio, we’re obsessed with getting your speakers to you in perfect condition. So, we individually pack each cabinet in a bag made of soft, black velvet to protect the upholstery and faceplate finish. And we ship them in a large, sturdy box with plenty of padding and empty space around your precious cargo to ensure a safe trip.

This pair (with red upholstery, graphite faceplates and red grill covers) is heading out to a customer in Chicago today!

The Lengths To Which People Will Go . . .

Turning two Ikea floor lamps into a pair of speakers – as these folks did – is an extreme way to hide ugly electronics (and probably not a terribly effective one). Mounting tiny drivers like these on a board without an enclosure around them – known as an “open baffle” setup  - really limits bass response and volume. And the lampshade almost certainly isn’t acoustically transparent either, muddying the sound further.

To be fair, these are billed as a secondary system for a bedroom or something. But this still goes to show that people usually take unattractive electronics as a given (and will sacrifice a ton of sonic performance for a solution that doesn’t clash with their decor). Clearly, we think attractive, affordable home audio equipment that you actually want to show off is the better way to go.
